Welcome To Hill Farm Tintern
Welcome to Hill Farm in Barbadoes, Tintern; a 15-acre smallholding overlooking Tintern and The Wye Valley, comprising woodlands, paddocks and streams. Tom and Hayley Court (along with 2 young daughters and a pup) took over Hill Farm in April 2018 and have plans to run our business “Forest Retreats” (www.forestretreats.co.uk) from here. We also have plans for more livestock, a large veg patch and to move towards living sustainably. We are passionate about environmental protection and support various environmental charities and NGO’s. Please ensure your stay at Hill Farm is as “low impact” as possible, including not dropping rubbish and cleaning up dog mess. You may even decide to take a rubbish bag to collect some rubbish on your walks! Every little helps.
The Wye Valley is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Hill Farm is the perfect place to take in its breath taking beauty. With one of the best views of Tintern, Hill Farm is rural enough to be quiet (with an abundance of plants and wildlife), but accessible enough to Tintern, The Abbey and all other attractions across the Wye Valley and The Forest of Dean. In springtime we are blessed with Bluebells that coat the forest floor making Hill Farm purple for a month or two!
We are situated on Barbadoes Hill in Tintern, named after sunny Barbados! Historic documents tell us that a lord of the local Piercefield estate named this hill “Barbadoes” after he returned from the Caribbean with a local wife.
Currently at Hill Farm we offer:
- A room with a view – a self contained holiday rental
- Camping for 28 days a year
- An Eco-Spa with an optional massage therapies
- Hill Farm Experiences including Walking Tours, Outdoor Cookery and Forest Bathing
- Day Retreats; which may include Yoga, Forest Bathing, Traditional Skills, Eco-Spa and a delicious vegetarian lunch.
